Those who know me know that I’ve been collecting sneakers for quite some time now, which is why I never find it surprising when someone asks me why I don’t own a single pair of Yeezys (and believe me, I get asked this question more often times than not). And my answer to them is always the same: 1. I think Kanye is an egotistical douchebag and I refuse to support him and 2. Well, I think they’re just plain ugly. I couldn’t give two shits about the hype; if something is not aesthetically pleasing to me, you won’t see me wearing it. It wasn’t until I saw these all white Yeezy Boosts that my interest was piqued ever so slightly (I’m a sucker for clean white kicks), so I reached out to my friends at Lace Up NYC who were kind enough to save me a pair.
My initial thoughts? Clean, pretty lightweight and the primeknit is of great quality…but they look big. I’m a GS 5-5.5 so my feet are relatively small but that thick midsole protruding from the back makes them look much larger (pet peeve!). Then you have the bird’s eye view which isn’t any better. They’re extremely wide and look like duck feet. I have to admit though…they’re super comfortable, but c’mon they’re sneakers. They’re supposed to be comfy.
So, why even bother shooting these then you ask? Well, if I’m being completely honest, more than these kicks I was just really excited to show you this Adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams HU T-shirt that I scored last week at Marshalls for $12. There are very few things in life better than finding a good deal, amirite???
I just thought that these kicks would complement the shirt well, and they do. But until Kanye comes up with a better looking shoe (and also decides to be less of an egotistical douchebag), this is one wagon that I won’t be jumping on anytime soon.
